Abstract

A stop for a flute closing its end, with improved facility for tuning so that a special effort does not have to be made by the player when playing certain critical tones; the inner face of the stop is formed as a concave dish which simplifies the production of required tones over the whole range of the instrument. The dish is pref. in the form of a hemisphere. A supplementary packing to close the end may be included between the hemisphere and the outer end, but is not usually needed if the stop is made of a suitable elastic material.
