Abstract
Cmpds. (I) and their salts are new: (where X is =CH2 or =O; either R3 and R4 are Me in which instance R1 is H or F and R2 is F, or R, and R4 are Et in which instance R1 and R2 are each H). Medicaments contg. (I, X is =CH2) are also new. this is an Addition to 795,003. I; X is =CH2) are antidepressants and (I, X is =O) are intermediates for (I, X is =CH2). 8.5 g. 10-(2-dimethylaminoethyl)-10,11-dihydro-7-fluoro-5-methyl 5H-dibenzo a,d cycloheptene-5-ol refluxed 2 hrs. with 250 ml. 2M H2SO4, the mixt. poured onto ice made alk. with solid KOH, extd. with CH2Cl2, the residue on evapn. treated with maleic acid in EtOH gave (I, X is =CH2, R1=H, R2=F, R3=R4=Me) maleate m.pt. 148.5-9.5 degrees C.
