Abstract

The purpose of the machine is to provide a beet topper which is able to maintain with good reliability, a high rate of work without blockages. It is attached to the front end of a tractor by three arms which are connected to three of the six transverse members of the machine. The cutters, which are driven from the tractor power-take-off, are contained within an area which has two side walls and a front and back wall, and are mounted on a horizontal shaft. When rotating the cutters create a strong airflow which drags the tops over the top of the rear wall into a container in which there is a transverse horizontal auger, for emptying the pulverised tops in a row on the ground.
