Abstract

The endless belt of the moving pavement carries a number of pedestrian support slabs. One of the two end rollers which locate the belt is power driven by a motor, through a V-belt. The other acts as a jockey and regulates the tension in the belt. The endless belt is supported by close rollers on the upper side. The slabs are also supported by rollers on the return side. The moving pavement is suitable for dense pedestrian traffic. The slabs have a single transverse connection with the belt to allow some relative pivoting.
