Abstract

Method of brazing metal parts together in a controlled atmosphere, is characterised in that the atmosphere is obtd. by decompsn. in vacuo or in inert gas, of halides by heating, without involving reactions of the halides with H2. The atmosphere causes reduction of any oxides on the metal surfaces allowing the braze metal to soften the parent metal on both sides simplifying diffusion between them, hence giving a strong bond.
