Abstract

A tray clearing and cleaning installation has a delivery conveyor belt which discharges the trays to a transfer position under an overhead belt with a set of blocks extending from its surface which engage the trays so as to push them up a pair of sloping guides to a take-off belt conveyor, passing over a rubbish container as they travel along the guides. During this travel, the trays pass under a set of wiper arms which push the contents off the trays, so that the unwanted material falls through the gap between the guides into the container below. The first wiper can be designed to remove e.g. drinking vessels first, for separate collection. an alternative design has bladed rotors instead of wipers.
