Abstract

A sensor (7) with a large diameter head (8) slides in a guide (6) which is screwed into a cylindrical head (5) on the body (1). The large head (8) forms a valve operating between two seats comprising the body and the adjustable guide (6). The distance between the seats determines the acceptable tolerance for the measurement and is indicated on a vernier (20). A stabilising spring (9) ensures sensor contact with a piece to be measured. A piston (10) slides in two bores (3, 4) in the body under the action of compressed air acting on two faces (11, 12) through calibrated orifices (13, 14). A finger (15) on this piston protrudes to signal when a measurement is out of tolerance, air leaking past the head (8) to a vent (19) to vary pressure on face (11) of piston (10).
