Abstract

Water-soluble polymers with sequestering action comprises polyacrylamide derivs. having a degree of polymn of 100-5000 and contg. units where M = H or one valency of a metal. The polymers can be used to eliminate ions such as Cu++, Ni++, Hg++, alkaline earth ions and polyvalent metal ions from aq. solns. In general, they may be used in similar applications to EDTA and iminodiacetic acid, but they have the advantage that after complexing they may be recovered from the soln. e.g. by ultrafiltration and if necessary regenerated.
