Abstract

Respiratory apparatus includes a passage supplied with a constant flow of breathable gas and has an outlet one end for direct connection to the respiratory passages, and at the other end a valve (5) opening outwards. The valve is subjected to a return force which is a decreasing function of the opening position of the valve. The return force can be provided by a magnet acting between the seat (7) and the valve itself, the seat being a magnet and the valve of soft iron, or vice-versa. Alternatively, seat and valves can be magnetised with opposite polarity.
