Abstract

The connection element is for a temporary sealed connection between a vacuum-, high vacuum-, or pressure system, and an element, having a pipe socket. The connection surface has a circular groove, opposite to the socket, to accommodate a solid elastic sealing ring. A channel opens into the base of the groove, to supply a compressed fluid, which lifts the seal off the groove base, and simultaneously presses it against the socket and the groove sides. The seal (16) is integral with a circular cross-section, and a material diameter, smaller than the depth of the groove (17). When at rest, the seal has an internal ring diameter, smaller than the base of the groove, when the socket (1) engages over the cylindrical surface (15); and vice versa, if the surface engages over the socket.
