Abstract

The boiler has a burner (3) whose flame is directed downwards into the lower part of the boiler which consists of the hearth which is fabricated from steel plate and water jacketed. The heat exchanger portion (2) of the boiler is manufactured of cast iron and is bolted down on top of the hearth by means of holding down bolts. The two sections are also connected by a pipe elbow passing water from the hearth to the heat exchanger. Sealed joints between the two sections prevent the escape of flue gases to the surrounding atmosphere. The most suitable materials are used for each part of the boiler and either section may be replaced as necessary.
