Abstract

The system consists of a silo with a product inlet connection, and an air inlet connection. Air is supplied from a compressor. The silo is fitted with a sump and an aerated product discharge pipe. A secondary compressor supplies air to a number of accelerator points along the discharge line. The accelerators each consist of a cylinder between pipe flanges. The bore of the cylinder is the same as the pipe bore. Air is admitted to an annulus outside the pipe and the annulus connects with the pipe bore by a number of angled holes which make a small agle with the centreline of the pipe. Air supply pressure control is effected by a porous convex cap at the base of the silo, inclined downwards to the discharge pipe and receiving aeration air.
