Abstract

A fuel fired heater is connected in the cooling water system between the engine and the heat exchanger for the car heater. The heater, and cooling system, are provided with two non return valves and thermostats which are connected in such a way that when the heater is switched on it first warms the heat exchanger and then the engine block. This ensures that the interior of the car is defrosted before the engine is started and the car driven away. A third thermostat connects the system to the radiator as normal.
