Abstract

Measurements on steering, braking and suspension are made with the motor vehicle on wheel rollers of a test bench. A test bench comprises four platforms (1a, b, c, d) with rollers (2) on which the motor vehicle wheels rest. The rollers are coupled to an electric or hydraulic motor and may be independently operated from a control desk (7). Each platform is rotatable on its support (9a, b, c, d) and those on one side (1b, d) are moved horizontally on slides (10b, d) by handwheels (12b) to adjust for wheel tracking. One pair of platforms (1c, d) are moved by handwhels (15c, d) to adjust the wheel base. Vibration detectors enable suspension checks to be made while alignment detectors permit measurement on the wheels.
