Abstract

A mine gallery roof support device has a sledge (1) carrying a boom (2) which can be raised and lowered by swinging about a pivot point (3) on the sledge, by the operation of a jack (4) between them, so that a roof support (5) can be maintained against the roof, parallel to the roof, this action being assisted by an intermediate arm (6) between the upper end of the boom and the roof support. This intermediate arm pivots about a hinge (7) nearly in the middle, and connects to the roof support by another hinge (8) one end, while the opposite end is connected at another hinge (10) to the piston of a nearly horizontal actuator cylinder (9) connected to the boom, in turn connected to the boom by a pivot pin (11) at its other end.
