Abstract
Pipe or hose cutting device comprising an annular collar for surrounding the hose section and rotating together with a floating collar supporting a radial shaft aligned with an electromagnet. A second shaft diametrically opposite the first is associated with a counterweight to the magnet. The cutting knife is mounted on a cranked arm attached to the first shaft and to an intermediate pivot. Activation of the magnet moves the shaft and hence pivots the knife into a cutting position. The movement shifts the position of the counterweight. When the electromagnet is de-energised, the counterweight reassures a dynamic balance position, thus automatically disengaging the knife from the pipe profile. The appts. for cutting thermoplastic pipe into specific lengths, is of compact design with a minimal number of moving parts and provides a precise, reproducible cutting locus.
