Abstract

The fold (1) between the body of the envelope (2) and the flap has a strong thread firmly fixed to it by adhesive, along its complete length. The free end of the thread has a loop (3) formed in it. This is lightly glued down onto the back of the envelope so as to be accessible after the flap is folded over the sealed. In use, the loop is freed from the adhesive, using a finger nail, and the loose end pulled at an angle. The attached thread cuts through the fold and comes away at the end, leaving the envelope neatly opened.
