Abstract

Nickel is extracted from its ore in a fluidised bed by chloriding with an alkali(ne earth) chloride mixed with coke in which the bed is fluidised by combustion air provided in stoichiometric quantity so that the coke is completely burnt and no CO or surplus O2 are produced in the gaseous product. Appts. comprises pref. three successive reactor beds.
