Abstract

Pipe bends are produced from rubber or similar material by (a) forming the straight pipe without vulcanising (b) placing the pipe in contact with a coaxial deformable element, (c) deforming the assembly, (d) vulcanising the assembly, and (e) separating the pipe from the deformable element. The deformable element consists of one or more metallic helices. The pipe is bent with precision according to a predetermined radius of curvature. The metallic helix is easily inserted in the pipe, and easily removed after vulcanisation, and is readily adaptable to different types of profile.
