Abstract

The parent patent describes a rotary, heat-treatment cylinder having a set of product conveying tubes arranged around a central drive tube. In the improvement two such cylinders are coupled in series to provide a two stage processing unit, e.g. heater/cooler, for treating free-flowing materials such as foundry sand, fertilisers, and food products, partic in the sugar industry. Specif. the first-stage multi-tubular unit is coupled to the second stage unit by a multi-tubular transfer unit, all three units rotating together on a common axial drive tube. The transfer unit may comprise feed screws to convey the product.
