Abstract

The title product is isolated as the acid citrate by the following method: crude toad venom is extracted with ethyl acetate, and the residue dissolved in a lower alcohol. The alcoholic soln. is evaporated, the residue taken up in water, and picric acid added. After purification of the picrate it is treated with HCl and washed with ether. The aq. soln. is then treated with citric acid and NaHCO3 to give, on evaporation, a mixture of bufotenidine acid citrate and NaCl.
