Abstract

Sachet for packaging liquids, esp. milk, and made from two rectangular pieces of flexible plastic film bonded directly together around three sides but having a fold or insert of extra material bridging the base. One of the upper corners is isolated as a flat flap by an oblique weld across the top of the sachet. An elongated hole is provided in the flap as a hand hold. The extra material in the base may be obtained as a 'W' fold in a single panel of film or by use of a separate welded-in insert. The sachet is free standing on a spread base, even if only partly full, is readily gripped, and restricts the discharge of the contents to a narrow mouth which acts like a spout.
