Abstract
Title cpds. are of formula: (R1 = H, lower alkyl; R2 = phenyl opt. substd. by CH3, CH3O or Cl); R3 = 3-pyridyl or its N-oxide; 5-thiazolyl or B.Ph.O.A-(A = 1-18C opt. branched, opt. ethylenically unsatd. hydrocarbylene opt. carrying oxoor HO, or phenyl opt. substd. by alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, acyl, alkoxy or halo; B is 0-3 same or diff. alk(en)yl, CF3, cycloalk(en)yl, aryl, aralk(en)yl, halo, alkoxy, alkylthio, aryloxy, aralkoxy, arylthio or aralkylthio; B may also complete a naphthalene ring opt. with 1 or 2 of the above substnts. and when one of these is cyclohex(en)yl this may itself carry OH or oxo and/or alk(en)yl. (I), which hypocholesterolaemics and anorectics, are prepd. by reacting an N-unsubstd. morpholine with acid chloride or anhydride of R3CO2H in presence of base. A pref. (I) is 4-nicotinoyl-2-phenyl-3-methylmorpholine.
