Abstract
Fumes from incineration of chlorinated org. prods., e.g. PVC, are freed from HCl in a fluidized bed fed continuously with fresh lime or CaCO3, the feed and overflow maintaining a constant concn. of chloride in the bed. Pref. bed is either maintained at 772 degrees C, and is opt. in cascade, the fumes traversing, at each bed plate, increasingly more reactive bed particles, or is opt. held by a cooling coil at 772-880 degrees C, so that the bed particles stick together and the enlarged particles descend by gravity to the base of the bed where they are disaggregated and sepd.
