Abstract

Apparatus for removal of stones from fruit has a tubular holder which tapers towards its bottom and a moving cap positioned above it which carries a punch which compresses the fruit. A split membrane is formed in the base of the holder to allow stone to escape. The holder is in two parts, the upper one being carried on a conveyor and the lower one, having membrane attached, is carried by a device which moves it up against the upper one during the pressing action. Pref. a second punch acts from below, at a second station, and in conjunction with a cover, to form the stoneless fruit into a 'cocktail' fruit.
