Abstract

Filter press consisting of alternately stacked filter frames and filter plates between fixed ends and mounted on transverse bars in such a way that they can be separated or closed up by an axial drive. Each filter-frame has a filter chamber on each face subdivided by a membrane into an inner closed chamber with a pressurized fluid feed port and an outer open chamber with an inlet for the slurry. Each filter plate is enclosed by an endless filter belt ont top and bottom rollers and all the belts are driven by bevel gears on the top rollers by a common axial drive shaft. Material is removed from the filter by scrapers as the belts are moved round, and automatic cleaning facilities are also included.
