Abstract

Plaything for domestic animals, such as dogs, cats, birds or other small animals, is intended to incite the animals to play and/or to eat. Microcapsules, which can be destroyed by the animal, contain a material which is agreable and stimulating; they contain a solid, liq. or gaseous odoriferous material and are arranged in or on a supporting body which can be destroyed, after a long period of use. The supporting body, in the form of a bone, biscuit, ball or ring may be made of wood, leather, rubber, synthetic material or raw hide. The odoriferous material may have the smell of carrion, roast meat or vanilla; these smells stimulate the animal but do not offend human beings. The microcapsules, which have a cellular wall which breaks or tears easily under light pressure when the object is bitten or gnawed, are partly buried in a film of coating or bonding substance which follows the contours of the support. The toy incites the animal to play, to bite and gnaw, it reacts favourably on the well-being and health of the animal.
