Abstract

Bacterial and fungicidal prepns. for external use in the treatment of injuries, contain as the active ingredient a Sn(IV) salt of 1-OH-2-pyridinethione. The products have low toxicity and high activity in contrast to known metal salts of the same compd. Specif., claimed ointment bases are wax-modified petroleum oils and solid polyethyleneglycols. The formulations contain 0.1-10% of the active compd. Other additions may include antibiotics, anti-histaminics, local anaesthetics etc. and specifically 0.01-2% of a corticosteroid to give anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and anti-allergic action.
