Abstract

An enzymatically-active, manufactured product comprises an active, immobilised enzyme in conjunction with an inert, semipermeable membrane. Two forms are described, (1) in which the dry enzyme is enclosed with a semipermeable covering, and (2) in which the enzyme is dispersed within the semipermeable membrane itself. A prefd. form entails applying a film-forming polymer soln. to the inner face of a semipermeable tube (e.g. dialysis tubing), the soln. contg, a dissolved or dispersed enzyme, followed by evaporation of solvent.
