Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a polypeptide which polypeptide comprises the sequence Val-Leu-Gly-Gly-Gly-Cys-Ala-Leu-Leu-Arg-Cys-Ile-Pro-Ala- Leu-Asp-Ser-Leu-Thr-Pro-Ala-Asn-Glu-Asp or any modification thereof which is immunologically cross- reactive therewith, but which is not an entire heat shock protein, with the proviso that the polypeptide with the following amino acid sequence <IMAGE> and polypeptides with amino acid sequences 234-540, 61- 540, 109-540, 171-540, 272-540 and 280-540, and human mitochondrial protein P1 are excluded. The polypeptide is synthesized according to usual methods employed in peptide chemistry and it is useful in the treatment of insulin-dependent diabetes.
