Abstract
The furnace consists of a vat formed by a metal casing of electro-welded mild steel with an internal coating of refractory cement forming the crucible itself, in contact with the metal. Several layers of insulating material are used to avoid major heat losses between the cement coating and the metal casing. The lid has two apertures for passage of rotors, and lugs.
