Abstract

Pump unit, especially for ornamental fountains and the like, having an electric synchronous motor (12), a pump casing (1) and a fluid-tight nonmagnetic sheath (2) joined thereto which is open at its side facing the fluid. Within the sheath (2) there is the rotor (14) of the motor (12). The rotor (14) is connected, via a shaft (11), to a centrifugal pump impeller (17) which is positioned in the pump casing (1) and is suitable for axial inflow and peripheral outflow of the fluid. There is provided, for the peripheral outflow, a rotationally symmetric annular gap (21) as a diffuser downstream of a cylindrical section (20) between the ends of the impeller (17) and the pump casing (1). The annular gap (21), via radial orifices (22), adjoins a collecting chamber (23), to which there is connected a riser (19).
