Abstract

Benzamide derivatives of the general formula: < IMAGE > I wherein A represents a divalent straight- or branched-chain alkylene group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and R1 represents a halogen atom or a hydroxy, mercapto, amino, nitro, cyano, carboxy or carbamoyl group or an alkyl, fluorine-substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkylcarbamoyl, dialkylcarbamoyl, alkanoyl, alkanoyloxy or alkanoylamino group and m represents zero or the integer 1, 2 or 3, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, R3 represents a halogen atom or a hydroxy, amino, nitro, cyano, carboxy or carbamoyl group or an alkyl, fluorine-substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, dialkylamino, alkylcarbamoyl or alkanoylamino group and n represents zero or the integer 1 or 2, R4 represents and alkyl radical and p represents zero or the integer 1 or 2, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, possess useful pharmacological properties.
