Abstract

Stopper means for casting furnaces (5) and other metallurgical vessels with at least one stopper rod (2) and one corresponding tapping nozzle (4) for the tapping operation and with an element (3) which substantially centrally protrudes from the stopper rod, is adapted to the tapping opening of the tapping nozzle, and can be moved into the tapping nozzle, characterized in that said element (3) is designed as a plunger being movable up and down through the tapping opening independently of the movement of the stopper rod (2).
