Abstract

The pick-up press has, behind the compression channel (60), a superstructure (III) movable in the transverse direction as well as a double tying device (67) and a cutting arrangement (68) which are actuated by an articulated system (64) actuated by a pressure cylinder (65). As soon as a wrapped block of predetermined length has been produced, the superstructure (III) is moved downwards, in order to close the rear end of the wrapping as well as the front end of the wrapping surrounding the block, after which the two ends thus formed are severed by the cutting arrangement (68). Each block is ejected by a piston (69) in cooperation with a stopping of the screw feeder (20).
