Abstract

The leading end of a web is introduced into a slitting and winding machine by a web-guide table (13). The web-guide table (13) can be raised and lowered and has a plurality of compressed air jets (14) directing air onto the web, optionally with a flow component in the conveying direction of the web. The table (13) includes a flat or curved end section (16) for guiding the web through a longitudinal cutting device (6) when the cutters are moved apart and to the support roller (2).
