Abstract
Air-compressing apparatus comprises a compressor unit (1) of the sliding-vane type, means for lubricating the compressor unit, an oil and compressed air tank (2), an oil- removing filter (3), a valve (23) for controlling the minimum operating pressure, a valve (24) for the discharge of air to the atmosphere, means including a tube (18) for the recovery and recycling of oil collected on the base of the filter (3), and a valve (26), Fig. 3 (not shown), for controlling the operation of the compressor. Additionally, a single load-bearing body (4) is provided which comprises a first portion both defining a chamber (6) for the vaned rotor (7) of the compressor unit and supporting a drive device e.g. an electric motor, (9) for the rotor (7) and a second portion defining a chamber (16) for the oil-removing filter (3). The valves, the oil-removing filter, end the oil/air tank are coaxial with one another but at different levels.
