Abstract

In a stranding machine, a double-twist unit (12) is fed with strands twisted by a twister (11) rotated at a speed which is substantially twice the speed of a flyer (33) of the double-twist unit. The twister produces substantially all of the final twist in the strands, and is preceded by a strand straightener (10).
