Abstract
A withdrawing and straightening machine which is arranged for the straightening of at least three billet or bloom strands (30, 31, 32) and for driving them independently of each other and comprises, for each strand, a bending roller, a bending counter-roller, a reaction roller and at least one driving roller, the bending rollers for the outer and the bending rollers for the inner strands being offset from each other in the direction of travel of the strands, is adapted for the alternative of straightening a slab strand (29) in that the upper bending rollers (10, 12, 14) and reaction rollers (2, 2', 4) which are associated with the individual billet or bloom strands (30, 31, 32) are adjustable relatively to the strand path and are reduced in diameter by an amount 2s in the zone of one or more billet or bloom strands, and the lower rollers (1, 1', 5, 5', 9, 11) which are each associated with an outer billet or bloom strand (30, 32) are reduced in diameter in the zone of at least one other billet or bloom strand (31) and can be raised in unison to an extent that falls within the degree of the roller barrel stepping s.
