SE CALIENTA LA MENA SULFURADA O EL CONCENTRADO SULFURADO A UNA TEMPERATURA DE 600-900 GRADOS CENTIGRADOS Y A UNA PRESION DE AZUFRE DE 0,2-1 ATMOSFERAS, CON EL OBJETO DE LLEVAR LOS COMPUESTOS METALICOS COMPLEJOS A UNA FORMA ADECUADA PARA LA LIXIVIACION SUBSIGUIENTE CON CIANUROS ALCALINOS Y SEPARACION DE LA SOLUCION DE CIANURO QUE LLEVA ORO Y PLATA A PARTIR DEL RESIDO NO DISUELTO. TRAS EL CALENTAMIENTO SE ENFRIA DENTRO DEL MARGEN DE ESTABILIDAD DE LA PIRITA, DE MODO QUE SE FORMA UN REVESTIMIENTO DE PIRITA SOBRE LAS PARTICULAS DE PIRROTITA.
