Abstract
An electrolytic process for recovering heavy metals, in particular lead, from sulphide concentrates is described, wherein the concentrates are dissolved in molten chlorides and then chlorinated, whereupon the metals which are to be extracted are subjected to fusion electrolysis. The sulphur separated off in the vapour phase of the chlorination is recovered as elemental sulphur.
