Abstract

The compsns. are highly active anticancer agents without side effects. The effect of the compsn. is attributed to (a) the free radical binding capacity of the diethylaminoethanol deriv. (I), (b) incorporation of borate ions into the structure of amino acids of malignant tumours to act competitively with the phosphate ions, and (c) supplementation of ascorbic acid levels, which are depressed in cancer patients. Pref. compositions contain (I).HCl, boric acid and ascorbic acid in 8.5-9% NaCl soln. with a pH of 5-6. The soln. pref. contains 0.16 wt.% (I).HCl, 1 wt.% ascorbic acid and 0.1-0.3 wt.% boric acid.
