Abstract

A process for obtaining valuable amounts of titanium metal from a source containing titanium, comprising the steps of: (a) subjecting said source containing titanium to a reductive roast; (b) leaching the resulting roasted source with aqueous hydrogen chloride at elevated temperature; (c) cooling and saturating the leaching solution with aqueous hydrogen chloride to precipitate ferrous chloride; (d) separating the precipitated ferrous chloride from the soluble titanium compound; (e) raising the temperature of the solution of the titanium compound to precipitate said titanium compound; and (f) separating and recovering the crystallized titanium compound from the leaching liquid (Machine-translation by Google Translate, not legally binding)
