Abstract
Mejoras introducidas en el objeto de la patente principal Nº 385.670 solicitada el 8 de Noviembre de 1970 por "Un procedimiento mejorado para la producción en horno de arco eléctrico de silicio por reducción carbotérmica de sílice" aplicadas específicamente a la producción en horno de arco eléctrico de ferrosilicio que tiene entre aproximadamente 45% de silicio y aproximadamente 95% de silicio en peso, caracterizadas porque comprenden: a) formar aglomerados homogéneos a partir de mezclas de un agente reductor carbonoso en partículas, un material portador de hierro en partículas y sílice en partículas, en el que dicho agente reductor carbonoso contiene entre aproximadamente 85% y aproximadamente 120% de la cantidad estequiométricamente requerida para la reducción de la sílice, de acuerdo con la reacción: **(Fórmula)** y en el que la sílice en partículas contiene una fracción fina y una fracción gruesa; b) cargar los aglomerados en un horno eléctrico; c) calentar los aglomerados en el hornoeléctrico por medio de al menos un electrodo sumergido en la carga de aglomerado para producir la reducción de los aditivos reducibles en dicha carga de aglomerado para proporcionar una aleación de ferrosilicio fundida que contiene entre aproximadamente 45% y aproximadamente 95% en peso de silicio; y d) sangrar subsiguientemente dicha aleación de ferrosilicio fundida del horno eléctrico.
