Abstract
Improvements introduced in a method of thermal treatment of strip material in the form of a coil, which includes the operations of placing a coil in a hall located at the entrance end of an elongated furnace, sealing of said hall and purging of gaseous contaminants from the same, with subsequent transfer of the coil from said vestibule to the furnace and displacement of the coil from the entrance end of the latter through successive heating and cooling zones of the same while a non-oxidizing gas circulates through it, and removal end of the coil at the outlet end of the oven, and characterized in that such method includes: the initial evacuation of said vestibule to purge it of gaseous pollutants; filling said vestibule with a gas, and evacuating the vestibule again to purge it of said gas before transferring the coil from it to the oven.
