Abstract

A concrete mixer has a main pan 1 and above it a pre-mixer comprising a circular rotatable base 7 which frictionally engages and causes to rotate a cylindrical side wall 9 with an inturned skirt 12. The base 7 can be raised to the broken line position by a hydraulic actuator 8 to disengage it from the wall and provide an annular peripheral discharge passage 13. In another embodiment (see Figs. 2 and 3, not shown). The wall 9 is lowered to disengage it from the base. The pre-mixer may be supplied by an elevating hopper 5 and a weighing apparatus 2. The base 7 is preferably a shallow cone 7 as shown, but may be flat.
