Abstract

A paper-making machine comprises:-a first forming roll 1, wrapped by the outside of wire 3, slurry being fed in at 9 to forming zone A a second forming roll 7, spaced apart from the first, and wrapped by the inside of the first wire, and, over this, the outside of the second wire, 13 and a second slurry feed 17 to inject stock to the second forming zone B. The first wire may wrap the top-side or the bottom-side of the first roll, and, correspondingly, the bottom-side or the top-side of the second roll. Transfer rolls 19a, 19 may be provided, to retain the formed web on the correct wire, and these may be plain or suction. The wires may be tensioned by rolls e.g. 5, 15. The sequence of forming rolls and wires to give forming zones may be extended, e.g: zones C and D. The product web may finally be couched over 35, and removed by felt F. The forming rolls may be solid, suction, or of the cylinder mould type. Doctors and savealls such as 11 and 12 may be provided to remove and collect water from the insides of the wires.
