Abstract

Data processing apparatus comprises a printing cylinder 12 or counter pressure roller 15 so that one or more lines from a master sheet 5 are printed on a copy sheet 13, an original sheet 1 read by magnetic, electrical or optical reading devices 9, 9b, means for effecting movement between the devices 9, 9b corresponding to one or more line spacings of the master sheet 5 in accordance with the operation of the printing cylinder and recording means 17 for recording the data read from the original sheet 1 e.g. in the form of punched holes P on to the same copy sheet 13 as printed on by the cylinder 12. In each of these embodiments the sensing heads are moved in letter-spacing direction by a helical groove and follower and stepped for line-spacing by racks and pawls.
