Process for the production of new heterocyclic compounds, especially of 4-aza-thiaxanthene derivatives of general formula I ** (See formula) ** wherein R 1 signifies a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl radical, R 2 signifies a hydrogen or halogen atom and R 3 signifies a lower alkyl radical, and its acid addition salts, characterized in that a 4-aza derivative is oxidized -thiaxanthene of formula II ** (See formula) ** wherein R1, R2 and R3 have the meanings indicated above and, when it is desired to produce an acid addition salt, the resulting compound is reacted with an organic or inorganic acid.
