Abstract
A method of removing impurities and recovering potassium hydroxide in the production of potassium permanganate, which comprises reacting calcium hydroxide with mother liquors consisting essentially of an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide, potassium manganate vi, potassium permanganate and at least one soluble impurity in alkali at a temperature of about 50ºC to 95º c, for conversion of at least part of said alkali-soluble impurity into potassium hydroxide.
